Summary

Packed with doodles and cartoons, here is the diary of Loki as he’s trapped on earth as a petulant eleven-year-old—and even worse, annoying thunder god Thor is there, too。

After one prank too many, trickster god Loki has been banished to live as a kid on Earth。 If he can show moral improvement within one month, he can return to Asgard。 If he can’t? Eternity in a pit of angry snakes。 Rude! To keep track of Loki’s progress, King Odin (a bossy poo-poo head) gives him this magical diary in which Loki is forced to confess the truth, even when that truth is as ugly as a naked mole rat。 To make matters worse, Loki has to put up with an eleven-year-old Thor tagging along and making him look bad。 Loki is not even allowed to use his awesome godly powers! As Loki suffers the misery of school lunch, discovers the magic of internet videos, and keeps watch for frost giant spies, will he finally learn to tell good from bad, trust from tricks, and friends from enemies? Louie Stowell’s witty text and hysterical drawings will keep readers in stitches from start to finish。

Sorry but this isn't redeemable at all。 I know it's targeted for children, but it doesn't have anything special, it was boring and the artwork didn't feel like anything special。 Sorry but this isn't redeemable at all。 I know it's targeted for children, but it doesn't have anything special, it was boring and the artwork didn't feel like anything special。 。。。more

Very funny and so typical of Loki, the author absolutely nailed Loki's personality。 My favourite god is on his way to be as popular with primary aged kids as Greg Heffley。 Ideal for the Wimpy kid fans or if you are looking for an easy, entertaining read。 Very funny and so typical of Loki, the author absolutely nailed Loki's personality。 My favourite god is on his way to be as popular with primary aged kids as Greg Heffley。 Ideal for the Wimpy kid fans or if you are looking for an easy, entertaining read。 。。。more

Written in the style of 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' this book is sure to be a big hit。 If children have liked that, and 13 Storey Tree House Style books, this a great recommendations。 It's accessible through its written style (comic pictures etc); it has easy to read short chapters; it's genuinely funny- for 9 years + : think poo and fart jokes; has a good story with accessible characters - think of the success of super heroes。 Written in the style of 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' this book is sure to be a big hit。 If children have liked that, and 13 Storey Tree House Style books, this a great recommendations。 It's accessible through its written style (comic pictures etc); it has easy to read short chapters; it's genuinely funny- for 9 years + : think poo and fart jokes; has a good story with accessible characters - think of the success of super heroes。 。。。more

Great book。 Written well and is very funny。 Loki is a god that has been sent down to a mortal world and he has to try and prove that he can be a good person and is worthy of Asgard (the home of the gods) it is funny and is also mischievous at the same time。 Definitely recommend。

Picked it for laughs and there were some。 Some were not exactly my style but that's me。 My only issue - the book sometimes felt。。。 preachy。 I get the importance of talking about climate change, gender etc。 with younger generation, but it felt like there were too many forced together and in a way that just didn't really convey the true issue。 The explanation that humanity uses polluting cars because they go fast and do "vroom, vroom" made me more annoyed than anything。 Otherwise, will do but I'm Picked it for laughs and there were some。 Some were not exactly my style but that's me。 My only issue - the book sometimes felt。。。 preachy。 I get the importance of talking about climate change, gender etc。 with younger generation, but it felt like there were too many forced together and in a way that just didn't really convey the true issue。 The explanation that humanity uses polluting cars because they go fast and do "vroom, vroom" made me more annoyed than anything。 Otherwise, will do but I'm not really much curious about any future follow ups。 。。。more

A fun junior novel about the Greek God Loki who is banished to earth in the body of an 11 year old boy in order to redeem himself。 With humorous by-lines and illustrations it covers the usual play ground behaviour and issues of an 11 yo。

Very funny。 Norse gods are great。 Humans are idiots。 I agree。

A fantastic and amusing book。 This genuinely made me laugh out loud。 I loved every minute of it。 Among the humour there is fantastic knowledge of Norse mythology and some important lessons。 A must read。 Can’t wait for the next one。

Entertaining, but doesn't quite reach my "kid's books I utterly adore from outside the target age group" standards。 Have passed it to the 8 year old, will see what he thinks! Definitely worth 5 stars! This book is a must read

Hilariously entertaining! Seeing from Loki’s perspective is pure genius & makes you really invest in his struggle to be ‘good’。

Wasn’t bad at all, but it wasn’t amazing either。 Then again, I’m not the target demographic for the book。 I think it would be great for younger readers, the illustrations were good, and the characters were likeable。 Altogether I found it a very pleasant reading experience, and I’m sure younger readers would absolutely love it!

I feel like this book has the best bits of many other children's books, but is so well versed in those that it manages to artfully ignore the worst bits of many of those books too! It has the hilarity and good nature of the DogMan books, the mischief of David Walliams, the illustrations of Diary of the Wimpy Kid and the fantasy/mythological elements that Percy Jackson thankfully brought to the table back in the day (these are still very much worthwhile reads in present day too, if you're looking I feel like this book has the best bits of many other children's books, but is so well versed in those that it manages to artfully ignore the worst bits of many of those books too! Very difficult to be a good God when you are so demonstrably a bad God, but you know, we must try and try he does (not)。I loved the story, it really is a perfect combination of all of the best parts of children's literature。 A clear winner for me。ARC provided from the publisher in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Everyone needs to read this book 。。。 no, seriously - everyone in my house is fighting me for this book! I laughed out loud frequently, and trust me, I'm usually as grumpy as Hyrrokkin, so this is saying something。 I give this a score of a squillion on the Book Virtue Score, or BVS Everyone needs to read this book 。。。 no, seriously - everyone in my house is fighting me for this book! Interesting book for children with good links to the Gods that I think would link to their likes。 However not sure with some of the content matter, always reluctant to like books that rely heavily on bashing school and teachers for humour just because I don't think it helps the already negative attitudes towards teaching, also nonchalant mentions of feminism and climate change although brazen and likely not intended to be they seemed to come off more harmful to those causes than good。 Overall a Interesting book for children with good links to the Gods that I think would link to their likes。 However not sure with some of the content matter, always reluctant to like books that rely heavily on bashing school and teachers for humour just because I don't think it helps the already negative attitudes towards teaching, also nonchalant mentions of feminism and climate change although brazen and likely not intended to be they seemed to come off more harmful to those causes than good。 Overall a decent book but not one I would use within school or have within a school library。 。。。more

Perfect for anyone stuck on Wimpy Kid or Tom Gates。 Loki has been banished to Earth by Odin for 1 month as a punishment。 In that time he must prove that he can be good。 He spends 30 days being bad in a multitude of hilarious ways! This book was clever and funny, full of little drawings and may even teach you a bit about Norse mythology!

This was tons of fun!! Really enjoyed it~ Got to have the second book。Review to come late March。

Better at the end than at the start。 But I did like it。

This book is so fun and entertaining! The first thing that caught my eye was the cover, with such vibrant colours and all the drawings in it, I knew it would be a success amongst kids!In Loki, we follow a God that has come to the Earth in a mortal body to do good deeds。It might seem like Loki had a very big mission, and it is a lot for him, but it is a lot of funny moments, curious comments and hilarious situations!Definitely, the perfect children's book of the month! My star rating as an adult 3。My star rating as a child 5。This is the story of the god of mischief Loki, told in the form of a diary that he has to keep after being sent to earth in the body of an eleven year old boy。 Loki must improve himself while on earth in order to prevent eternal torture by snake venom, but he finds it increasingly difficult due to his chaotic and mischievous nature, one girl may turn things around for him though。。。but not before he messes things up royally。There's doodles My star rating as an adult 3。My star rating as a child 5。This is the story of the god of mischief Loki, told in the form of a diary that he has to keep after being sent to earth in the body of an eleven year old boy。 Loki must improve himself while on earth in order to prevent eternal torture by snake venom, but he finds it increasingly difficult due to his chaotic and mischievous nature, one girl may turn things around for him though。。。but not before he messes things up royally。There's doodles galore and lots of kids humour (farts, poop and general nonsense)It's an amusing read and one I think children would absolutely love。 。。。more

Clever concept full of cartoons kids will love and lots of fart gags BUT also gives an insight into what it is to be kind and human。 Loki would hate this review。

Great concept, putting Loki in an 11-year-old's body, accompanied by his brother Thor。 And his mission to earn points for being good adds a gentle sense of morality to the story。 But most of all, the author has great fun playing with the set-up, Loki messing things up, sometimes on purpose, sometimes accidentally as Louie Stowell pokes gentle fun at modern life。 One Hel of a good laugh Great concept, putting Loki in an 11-year-old's body, accompanied by his brother Thor。 And his mission to earn points for being good adds a gentle sense of morality to the story。 But most of all, the author has great fun playing with the set-up, Loki messing things up, sometimes on purpose, sometimes accidentally as Louie Stowell pokes gentle fun at modern life。 One Hel of a good laugh 。。。more

This was a super fun and easy read that at times had me laughing out loud due to how witty it was。

This is proper riotous fun! What happens when Loki, the trickster we all know and love, is sent to earth to deal with our mortal problems? You get much laughter, a hilariously wise diary and Loki dealing with school (these bits were my fave!)。 I loved all of the illustrations and cartoon spreads throughout - added so much to the story。 11 year old, mortal Loki is just as witty and menacing as the god we all know!!

i flip flopped between 1 star and 2, and still feel bad about this rating because i understand this is not a book made for me。however, i still feel many other books accomplish it better。i liked the concept of this book, and believe it had a lot of potential- there were quite a few moments where a joke made me genuinely laugh, but it was ruined by being immediately followed by another lazy joke, or a questionable decision made by an mc who doesn't get any semblance of a redemption arc until the f i flip flopped between 1 star and 2, and still feel bad about this rating because i understand this is not a book made for me。however, i still feel many other books accomplish it better。i liked the concept of this book, and believe it had a lot of potential- there were quite a few moments where a joke made me genuinely laugh, but it was ruined by being immediately followed by another lazy joke, or a questionable decision made by an mc who doesn't get any semblance of a redemption arc until the final 20 pages。1。5 。。。more
